Carrying forward the tradition of the former Haslett Invitational, East Lansing High School and Michigan State University Science Olympiad are partnering to host a new Division C tournament in East Lansing.

Running the full 2027 Division C slate, scheduled around the official 2027 National Tournament conflict blocks.

Supervisors

Alumni & Official Event Leads

Events are written and run primarily by experienced state and regional supervisors, MSU students, and alumni so coaches can focus on their teams.

Recognition

Awards Through 8th Place

Individual event medals are awarded through 8th place in all 23 events. Overall team trophies are also presented through 8th place.

Location

Region 11 Site Preview

Held at East Lansing High School, which will also host the 2027 Michigan Science Olympiad Region 11 tournament later in the season.

Registration & Volunteer Requirements

Registration Details

  • Opens September 13, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET: Initial registration allows up to two teams per school.
  • Third Teams (September 20, 2026): Schools may register a third team starting September 20 if spots remain.
  • Capacity: Capped at 45 teams. Registration closes once capacity is reached.
  • Fee: $90 per team. Payment instructions will follow registration confirmation.

Team Volunteers

  • Two Volunteers per Team: Each registered team must provide two adult volunteers on tournament day to assist with general event and facility operations.
  • Assignments: Volunteer roles and instructions will be communicated to registered head coaches prior to tournament day.
